Mendocino Headlands State Park

Botanical Garden
The Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens in Fort Bragg includes canyons, wetlands, coastal bluffs, and a closed-cone pine forest. Admission is $20.
Bowling Ball Beach
Those large round sandstone rocks that line the beach and kind of look like bowling balls? They’re concretions, hard masses found within rocks that are left exposed as their exteriors are eroded away by the waves. Bowling Ball Beach is best visited during low tide.
Russian Gulch
Russian Gulch State Park is a California State Park in coastal Mendocino County, California, 2 mi north of Mendocino and 7 mi south of Fort Bragg. Beach and hiking trails.
The lighthouse, which is an active duty Aid to Navigation, contains the original Chance Brothers classic 3rd order Fresnel lens in addition to a nearby lightkeeper’s house built in the 1930s; the other two houses are comfortable vacation rental homes
In 1995 the first building to receive help was the Blacksmith & Carpentry Shop. It was repaired and restored to original specifications. Initial work was completed in 1996. Today it contains a 240 gallon saltwater aquarium and an interpretive center, housing the Marine Science Exhibit.
The next building to be repaired was the Oil House, the concrete building between the Blacksmith & Carpentry Shop and the Lighthouse. It was restored and made weathertight. The Oil House was completed in the spring of 1998.
